Personal Styling Serving Maryland, D.C. and Northern Virginia

Well Hello There!

Welcome to Styled by Lisa.

I’m Lisa Tumbarello, a personal stylist, and I’m guessing you've reached my site for a few reasons. Perhaps you feel you’re in a style rut and are looking for some fashion guidance. Or, maybe you’re looking to nudge a (friend, wife, mother, sister, husband, etc.) to get some much needed wardrobe help. Or, it could be that you’re looking for someone to whip your office interns into shape and teach them the ins-and-outs of corporate dressing. No matter the reason you've landed here, rest assured that style help is on the way!

As a personal stylist I have a very down-to-earth approach to styling. I consider myself a “practical fashionista” who loves finding a good deal without sacrificing elegance. I truly believe that you can boost your confidence and change your outlook with a few well-placed stitches and accessories.

Styling is part psychology and part fashion. As women we tend to be a bit too harsh on ourselves (understatement of the century) and can easily lose sight of what matters most. Defining, developing and executing your personal style can help you overcome whatever may be holding you back.

Whether this is a place you've come to gather inspiration or if you’re ready to bite the bullet I promise you've taken the first step in a positive direction. I have been on many different style journeys with my clients (weight loss, divorce, babies, new jobs, etc.). All journeys are different but there’s always one thing at the core of every experience: self-love. This is the time to do something for your inner and outer self. Hold your head up high, put a spring in your step and a glint in your eye.

In the words of Mary Kay Ash,

“While clothes may not make the woman, they certainly have a strong effect on her self-confidence, which, I believe, does make the woman.”

Stylist vs. Shopper: What’s the Difference?

I’ve been asked this question a lot lately…

“What’s the difference between using a store shopper, hiring a personal stylist?

More and more retailers are offering styling services to customers (store shoppers). They are bringing a more personalized experience to the table in the hopes of building brand loyalty and betting that you’ll tell all your friends about your great experience. Hiring an independent personal stylist was once reserved for the rich and famous, but has slowly been building for the masses. Everyday women (and men) are using stylists to teach them how to dress for their body or simply to outsource the pain and anxiety of shopping.

To make it easy, I’ve outlined the main points below, but it really depends on what your personal style goals are. If you’re in a pinch for time and need help with dressing for an event (i.e. interview tomorrow, or wedding this weekend) then a store shopper might be a great option. If you’re looking for more of a style education and want to enhance your personal style, then a personal stylist might be the way to go. Read on to weigh the options.
